Baccarat at Casino777

Baccarat is one of those classic card games that has become increasingly popular since the dawn of online casinos like Casino777. The game is also known as baccara, and was originally made popular in France, although the exact origins of the card game are often debated.

In its essential form, Baccarat games are all about comparing two hands. Similar to a game of Blackjack, in Baccarat the player plays against the banker, and with each hand that’s dealt, there can be three potential outcomes: either one of them wins, or there is a tie. Within the general game ‘Baccarat’, there are several different versions that are enjoyed by players all over the world.

There is North American Baccarat (also known as Punto Banco), Chemmy Baccarat (also known as Baccarat Chemin de Fer) and Baccarat Banque (also known as A Deux Tableaux) – every version is different, and we will explore each type in more detail later on.

Casino777 is dedicated to bringing our loyal customers the very best online betting and gaming opportunities, and Baccarat has long been a staple card game in our range. We’ll take a closer look at the history of Baccarat, Baccarat rules, and the different versions of offline and online Baccarat.

A Brief History of Baccarat

Although, as with many card games, the exact beginnings of Baccarat are often debated, most agree that its origins are in 15th Century France. Its creation is attributed to renowned gambling enthusiast Felix Falguiere. The inspiration often coined for Baccarat is an old legend about a maiden with golden hair who threw a die with nine sides before the gods to see if she would become a priestess.

This nine-sided die is the idea behind the maximum score of any Baccarat hand, which is nine. The minimum score is zero – this is called ‘a Baccarat’.

Originally considered an upper-class card game, years later Baccarat trickled down into everyday life, and soon became a popular game, played both at home and in commercial casinos. Since the rise of internet casinos, it has also become a popular online game for gambling fans the world over.

Here at Casino777, we love to keep on top of the most popular card and casino games in the industry, and we’ve included online Baccarat in our library of games for many years now. Whether you’ve been playing for years, or you’re new to the concept of Baccarat and would like to see what it’s like, you’ve come to the right place.

How to Play Baccarat Online

If you want to learn how to play Baccarat, or brush up on Baccarat rules, here’s everything you need to know about this awesome game. Baccarat is a simple game that anyone can play – here’s a basic outline of the rules. The game can be played with a banker and one other player, or a banker with all the way up to 14 players.

The first thing to note is that you can bet on either your own hand or the dealer’s (or banker’s) hand. To begin play, the player and the banker are each dealt two cards. The cards’ values are what you see on the cards (note, Aces are 1), with the exception of the 10, Jack, Queen, King, all of which are worth zero.

There is one simple thing to be done to get the game rolling: the banker and the player must first place their bets on who will win the strongest hand, or whether there will be a tie. The payout for player and the banker is 1:1. However, if the player bets on the banker and banker wins, the casino takes a commission rate from the bet (usually around 5%). The payout for a tie is either 9:1 or 8:1.

Once the bets have been made, the cards are dealt. Two cards are dealt face-down to the banker and the player. The aim of the game in Baccarat is to get the closest to 9 as possible on either the player’s or the banker’s hand. If a 10 and an 8 appear together, this is called a Natural Eight, which is the second strongest hand in Baccarat. A 10 and a 9 is called a Natural Nine and this is the highest hand you can achieve in Baccarat.

The two cards’ values are added together to make the score. If a player is dealt two digits, the left one is dropped, e.g. if the two cards are a 7 and an 8, totalling 13, the left digit is dropped, turning the score of this hand into a 3.

In certain circumstances, a third card is dealt. If the player’s score is between 0 and 5, they receive a third card. If the banker’s score is between 0 and 2, they receive a third card.

Despite its simplicity, Baccarat’s appearance in popular culture, such as in certain James Bond films, has elevated it to new levels and made it one of the most loved card games both at land-based and online casinos.

Different Baccarat Games

There are several versions of Baccarat which can differ considerably. The most popular version is the type you will see on the majority of online Baccarat casinos, and this is known as Punto Banco, which relies entirely on chance.

The two other best-known versions of the game are Chemin de Fer and Baccarat Banque, which we have mentioned earlier. These games rely a little more on strategy and ability, although the essential structure of the game is the same. Chemin de Fer is closer to the original Baccarat, and is so-named (the literal meaning is Iron Road) because the cards used to be stored in an iron box.
