THUNDERKICK GAMES

If you’re looking for something a little unusual or quirky, Thunderkick Games are the provider to aim for. They pick subject matter that is off the beaten path and often the way the game plays is completely different to other slots. Whether it’s birds on a telephone wire, stacks of singing, toppling skulls or some sort of alternate dimension filled with fruit, Thunderkick Games go about things differently to most.

Retro Stylings

Even in this modern age of 3D graphics and massive processor power, it’s surprising that 8-bit still endures. There is something about it that still appeals to people, and Thunderkick Games know this. Flame Busters (or to give it its full name: “Roasty McFlame and the Flame Busters”) is about as retro as you can get. The only thing that’s missing is a giant gorilla throwing barrels or an Italian-accented plumber. The cast of characters that need saving from their burning building are no less weird. There’s a wizard, a robot, a pirate and a breakdancing, cigarette-smoking goat. Because why not?

Arcader is just as retro, but in a completely different style. It appears to be set some desolate planet, with five monolith-style pillars instead of reels. Accompanied by a bass-heavy synth soundtrack, the game is slimmed down and austere, but no less fun for that. It cuts out all the bells and whistles and exchanges them for easy-to-understand features and fun minigames.

What Am I Looking At?

Thunderkick Games definitely have a unique sense of humour. But sometimes, you just have to stop and marvel at how loopy they are. Take Toki Time, for example. Again, Thunderkick do away with the standard reels and instead have a collection of cute and colourful creatures popping out of burrows in the ground. As soon as you spin the reel again, however, for some reason they fire off into the air, and while the next set of beasties are arranging themselves, you can watch the previous lot landing in the distant hills.

Then there’s Birds On A Wire. The birds fly in and arrange themselves on a phone line. As soon as you find a winning combination, then it’s curtains for your feathered friends, who disappear in a flash and a burst of feathers. There’s also a cat who manages to fly in a cardboard box, but we’re not sure what he does.

Futuristic Fruit

Fruit Warp and Well Of Wonders are two Thunderkick games that completely change the concept of slot games. Instead of numerous reels filled with dozens of symbols, you just get seven. The symbols don’t have to line up from left to right like most games. Just having three that match in any order works just fine. They then disappear, and new ones appear, and each win you chain together multiplies your winnings.

Zoom is another outside-the-box game. At first, it looks standard. You have six rows of reels. But on closer inspection, you’ll see that these are divided into boxes of four. Whenever you hit the ‘Z’ symbol, it chooses a symbol at random to fill that four-symbol sized box. If you manage to hit the ‘Z’ in one of the other boxes, you could get a giant symbol that covers 16 spaces – and you’ll win for every row that the symbol fills!
