IGT Games
IGT Games are one of the bigger, more well-established providers of slot games. Created in 1975, the company has always been in the video slot game business, being one of the early pioneers for the technology. In 1984, they acquired a company known as Electronic Data Technologies which had developed a customer tracking system. It was a technology that has become commonplace now, especially with the internet tracking consumer habits and tastes. Back then, it provided the game makers with information that would not normally have been available to them, but there was also a benefit to users, rewarding them for playing regularly.Familiar Faces
Being a long-established game provider means that some of the properties that the company licenses are very familiar. There are two slots based on the classic 80s comedy Ghostbusters, as well as one themed around the 90s TV show phenomenon, Baywatch. IGT Games also invested heavily in making slot versions of classic American game shows. You can enjoy one of these, a game based on the long-running Jeopardy. It’s a feature that they have continued to explore, creating games out of newer titles. You can take a step into the anarchic, profane world of the Griffin family in Family Guy. All your favourites are there: Stewie, Meg, Peter and even Quagmire, all recreating some of their more memorable quotes and scenes while you spin. When Sherlock Holmes was rebooted for the big screen in 2009, IGT Games made sure that they would be the ones to put Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law’s faces front and centre for the slot machine.
Keeping the Classics
It’s not just recent movies and shows that IGT Games likes to use. They also keep a very classic theme going with some games. For example, Samba de Fruitas is very reminiscent of 1930s musical and movie star, Carmen Miranda. It’s hard now to imagine the scale of her fame, but Ms Miranda sang and danced for presidents, starred in over 20 movies and in 1945, was the highest-paid woman in the US. She often wore hats adorned with real fruit, which quickly became a trademark. The “Brazilian Bombshell” introduced the world to samba music and definitely made people appreciate the Latin lifestyle. As well as a more generic tribute to the silver age of movies with Silent Movie (featuring posters and stills from classic turn-of-the-century movies), IGT Games has also updated the Keystone Kops. Now in cartoon form, the Keystone Kops were who movie studios turned to when they wanted a shambolic chase scene. Fatty Arbuckle, Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin and Abbott & Costello all found themselves pursued by these incompetent constables, and the style of chase – in which everyone keeps falling over each other – still endures today.
